DOOR SPEAKERS

Upgrading your factory speakers

Upgrading your car's door speakers is a popular way to significantly improve the audio quality and overall listening experience in your vehicle. Factory-installed speakers are often designed for cost efficiency rather than optimal sound performance, so replacing them with higher-quality aftermarket speakers can make a noticeable difference.

Door Speaker Replacement?

  1.  Determine Your Goals:Decide what you want to achieve with the upgrade. Are you looking for clearer vocals, better bass response, or an overall balanced sound? Having a clear goal will help you choose the right type of speakers.
  2. Select Speaker Type:There are two main types of car speakers: coaxial (full-range) and component speakers. Coaxial speakers combine multiple speaker elements (woofers and tweeters) into a single unit, while component speakers separate these elements for more accurate sound positioning and improved clarity.
  3. Choose Speaker Size:Measure the existing speaker sizes in your doors to ensure compatibility. Common sizes include 6.5 inches, 6x9 inches, and others. Ensure that the chosen size fits your vehicle's speaker openings.
  4. Research Brands and Models:Look into reputable car audio brands known for producing high-quality speakers. Read reviews, ask for recommendations, and compare specifications to find speakers that match your preferences and budget.
  5. Speaker Features:Pay attention to features like frequency response, sensitivity, power handling, and impedance. These specifications will impact the speaker's performance and compatibility with your audio system.
  6. Consider Sound Quality:Listen to demonstrations if possible or read reviews to get an idea of the sound signature of the speakers you're interested in. Consider whether you prefer a warm sound, detailed highs, deep bass, or a balanced tone.
  7. Installation:Depending on your DIY skills, you might choose to install the speakers yourself or have a professional do it. Proper installation is crucial for optimal sound quality and speaker longevity.
  8. Sound Deadening:While upgrading speakers, consider applying sound deadening material to the door panels. This reduces vibrations and road noise, enhancing the clarity of your new speakers.
  9. Amplification:Upgrading speakers might reveal limitations in your factory head unit's power output. Consider adding an amplifier to provide more power for better performance.
  10. Tuning:After installation, it's important to properly tune your audio system. Adjust settings like the equalizer, crossover points, and gain to achieve the best sound quality.
  11. Balance and Integration:Keep in mind that a balanced audio system involves all components working harmoniously. If you're upgrading door speakers, consider how they'll integrate with other components like subwoofers and amplifiers.

we can help

Remember that the quality of your car audio system is a combination of its various components. While upgrading door speakers can make a big difference, other factors like the head unit, amplifier, subwoofers, and overall system tuning also contribute to the final sound quality.
