Water
Gloves
Spray Booth
Respirator mask (for safety during spraying)
Sandpaper (for surface preparation)
Cleaning supplies (soap, water, and lint-free cloth)
This is what we do for you!
Preparation:
Remove the wheels from the vehicle and clean them thoroughly to ensure a clean surface for adhesion.
Sand the surface of the wheels lightly to create a rough texture that helps the paint adhere better.
Base Coat:
Apply a base coat of spray paint to the wheels in the color of your choice. This will serve as the background color for the hydrodip design. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Masking:
Use masking tape to cover areas of the wheel that you don't want to be covered by the hydrodip pattern, such as the tire contact area and any other sensitive parts.
Prepare the Hydrodip Film:
Design your graphics
Print your design on our state of the art Hydrographics printer
Cut the hydro dip film to the size of the wheel's surface, making sure it's slightly larger to cover the entire area you want to customize.
Fill the Container:
Ensure our Tank is full of clean water. The water should be at a temperature that allows the hydrodip film to activate properly (usually around 80-90 degrees, depending on film and design.)
Activate the Hydrodip Film:
Carefully place the hydrodip film on the water's surface, printed side up.
Spray the hydrodip film evenly with the hydrodip activator. The activator will dissolve the ink on the film and create a liquid pattern that you can dip the wheel into.
Dipping Process:
While the activator is still wet, gently dip the wheel into the water at a consistent angle, ensuring the entire design is submerged.
Hold the wheel underwater for a few seconds to allow the design to adhere to the surface.
Rinse and Dry:
Lift the wheel out of the water, allowing any excess film to drip
Rinse the wheel with clean water to remove any remaining activator residue.
Gently pat the wheel dry with a lint-free cloth.
Clear Coat:
Once the hydrodip design is dry, apply a clear coat of paint to seal and protect the design. This will also give the wheel a glossy finish. Allow the clear coat to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions. We can also do this in a Matte finish.
Final Touches:
Carefully remove the masking tape used to protect certain areas.
Inspect the wheel for any imperfections and make any necessary touch-ups.
Not as easy as we make it look:
Remember that hydrodipping requires practice to achieve consistent and high-quality results. It's recommended to start with smaller objects before attempting larger items like wheels. Additionally, safety precautions are important when working with paint and chemicals, so make sure to wear gloves and use a respirator mask in a well-ventilated area.
